Phaco (Short-Term)


This training programme is designed for practicing experienced ophthalmologists who wish to acquaint themselves with the technique of Phacoemulsification Cataract Surgery. This course is one of the most sought after courses in our institutions and we are happy that the quality of trainees coming in and going out has increased considerably over the years.

  • This is a short-term programme that is designed to provide maximum hands on cases for qualitative and quantitative learning.
  • A minimum number of 25 cases are guaranteed to each individual trainee
  • Dental DesignThe training will be done on individual basis by a senior ophthalmologist catering to the specific skill level of the trainee
  • Each surgery is monitored and supervised by our senior surgeons till the end of the programme
  • Trainees are given access to various and recent ophthalmic books/surgery videos in our library
  • Post completion of a day’s surgery, trainees are permitted to watch our senior doctors performing advanced surgeries to give them more learning opportunities
  • Trainees will have opportunity to attend cataract screening community outreach campaigns
  • Classes on various topics related to recent advances in cataract surgery are also conducted
  • If a trainee meets the eligibility criteria, it is usual that by the end of the programme the trainee is able to perform surgeries independently
  • For successful trainees a certificate of accomplishment will be given at the end of the programme

all browser    Eligibility Criteria

  • A minimum of 3 years work experience, extensively in SICS surgery.
  • Certificate of specialist training in ophthalmology is required. DO/MS/DNB or its equivalent candidates only.

  • We take in 4 trainees a month, i.e., 2 trainees every 15 days
  • In order to maintain quality education, we have limited seats every session
