Fellowship in Cataract Surgery

This fellowship is designed for international candidates who are young ophthalmologists and wish to develop clinical skills in comprehensive ophthalmology and surgical skills in cataract surgery. During the fellowship period trainees will be posted in clinics such as Glaucoma, Retina and will be exposed to sub-specialties such as Cornea, Orbit & Oculoplasty and Pediatric Ophthalmology.

The fellowship will cover all aspects of management of cataract starting from patient selection to long term postoperative management of patients who underwent cataract surgeries. Trainees will be guided in SICS (Small Incision Cataract Surgery) and later Phacoemulsification Cataract Surgery in a phased manner. During the fellowship period trainees will receive good hands on training in cataract surgery and they will be taught how to handle preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative complications in cataract surgery. They will also be trained to manage posterior capsule opacifications with anterior segment lasers.

For candidates the programme fees will be informed after scrutiny of their application and documents according to their training requirements.

Accommodation can be arranged in guest houses or individual rooms on request requiring additional payment.

  • Degree of Specialist Training in Ophthalmology, Degree of Post Graduate Studies in Ophthalmology equivalent to DO/MS/DNB.

  • We take in 2 candidates per year.
  • Admission is on interview basis.
  • Our intake is in April and October.
